Vocabulary: words related to tradition.
Ceremony: ……………a public or religious occasion that includes a series of formal or traditional action
To whisper: ………….to murmur
Baptism: …………….. A Christian ceremony in which people are cover with water to welcome them into the Christian church and often to name them.
Initiation: …………the fact of somebody to become member of a group often with a special ceremony
LANGUAGE FUNCTION: phrases with the verb to ‘‘TAKE ’’ (Prendre)
To ‘‘take’’ is an irregular verb. ( to take – ps took – pp taken ) but it can be used in many expressions with different meanings.
EX: to take a photo ( we usually take photo during a festival with photograph) = to take pictures
To take a taxi/bus/train ( to use taxi/bus/train for travelling )
To take after someone ( to look or behave like an older member of your family.
EX: your sister doesn’t take after you at all.
To take off from an airport ( the plane took off an hour late)
ACTIVITY ONE: how to write a dialogue
Complete this short dialogue, and then practice it.
FANTA: when did your aunt’s get ……………………………………………………………?
AMARI: she ………………………………………. married in May this year.
FANTA: and where did the wedding ceremony ……………………………………………?
AMARI: it ……………………………………….. place in a catholic church in Dabou.
FANTA: Did you ………………………………………… a lot of pictures?
